Witches Ride
We are in the 9th year of this beloved Halloween tradition -- the Witches Ride benefitting LLS. This premiere community event brings together members of Alexandria for a great cause. With over 200 riders and countless more spectators, this event is fun for the whole community while raising money for LLS.
So, what exactly is a Witches Ride, one may ask? Well, we are here to give you the tea (or brew).
Nationally, over the last 30 years, the Witches Ride has blended whimsy with philanthropy. Participants dress up in their spookiest garb and ride down the designated route on bikes. These rides are part of a growing national trend, taking place throughout the month of October, and have started for a multitude of reasons including fundraising and cultivating community.
Locally, The Waynewood Witches ride was started in 2015 when a group of Waynewood Moms joined together to raise funds for their Light the Night team in honor of a local child who was fighting LLS. The first ride included 12 witches and has grown every year since. We look forward to continuing this an annual event as a way for friends to come together, dress up, meet other community members, and raise money for a good cause!
All proceeds from this event are donated to LLS. As of September 2024 Waynewood Witches Ride is a 501c3.
***It is important to remember that by no means is this event promoting anything unsavory. The goal is simple - encourage community camaraderie, have a whole lot of fun, and most importantly, raise money for LLS.***
